Quiet Contemplation Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

larryc43230: After the recent DNF, I decided to visit the cache location and check things out. The hiding place has been shattered (it was an old section of ceramic pipe) and the cache container and contents have been stolen. Reluctantly retiring this cache after more than ten years.

Geocache Description:

This cache was placed in conjunction with the 2007 Central Ohio Geocachers C.I.T.O. event held on April 14, 2007. The cache is located on the grounds of Burnside Cemetery, which is maintained by Genoa Township, but it is not located near any graves.

As with all cemeteries, please be respectful of the area and of any gatherings you might encounter. This is still an active cemetery.

Burnside Cemetery, also known as Bonair Cemetery, is well maintained. Although a few gravestones have been damaged, the majority are in excellent condition. The oldest gravestones are located on the east side.

Private Bixbe Rogers (or Rodgers), interred here, served in the Army under George Washington at Trenton, New Jersey in 1777 as a private from Connecticut in the Revolutionary War. He served as a soldier for a total of 7 years. He died in September, 1831. Richard Closson, who was born about 1748 and died in 1831, also served in the Revolutionary War and is also buried here.

The cache is a medium-sized, clear Lock & Lock container. Original placement included a pen for signing the log; it might be wise to bring your own pen or pencil just in case. Please replace the container as you found it.

Be sure to park in the cemetery, because there's no parking at the end of Lewis Center Road.

My thanks to dreamer'sspykids for hiding the original cache in this cemetery, "Contemplation." I named this cache "Quiet Contemplation" as a tribute to that original cache.
