Back by popular demand! Eat, drink, be merry and meet your
fellow geocachers after The Fling.
For those who did not attend the first COG Spring Fling let me
explain the Après. We have all heard of Après ski - now there is
Après Fling, a time when you can reminisce about the day’s
experiences and rejuvenate.
Where: Bleachers at CFB Borden
Date: June 2, 2007
Starts: 5:30 pm
Door Prize Draws: 7:00 pm
Stay or go about your business: 7:30 pm
Please note that the base is open to the public and there are no
security check points to pass through. Bleachers Restaurant carries
an extensive menu featuring a large variety of succulent items.
Bleachers is the only all-ranks facility on base (which is open to
the Public) that has a capacity of 180, an 80-seat patio and an ATM
for your convenience.
Space is limited so PLEASE INDICATE THE NUMBER IN YOUR
PARTY on your Will Attend log so that we can keep track of how
many will be attending. Family friendly, all are welcome. We’re
sure this will not be an issue; however, they will not allow
children to stay past 9 pm.
After a day on the trails this is a good opportunity to
rejuvenate before traveling home, setting up camp or getting those
FTF’s on the COG3 caches that are going to be published on June
3rd.
For those who had a scheduling conflict and could not attend COG
Spring Fling III, this is your chance to find out what you missed
and get advance information about the COG3 caches.
The door prize draws will take place at about 7:00 p.m. After
the door prize draws you are free to finish your food and drink and
take care of business. You will easily have 2 more hours of
daylight to find caches, get home or set up camp.
Camp Borden is historically known as the birthplace of the Royal
Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and 16 Wing. Today it is home to the
Canadian Forces Support Training Group (CFSTG) and houses the
majority of the schools in the CF. Borden also has two public
museums; an armour museum and 16 Wing Air Force museum. Borden is
located next to the town of Angus approximately 16 km west of
Barrie, along Highway 90 and approximately 10km north of the town
of Alliston. There are only two entrances onto the base; the Angus
gate at the west end of Hwy 90, and the south gate at the north end
of County Road 15. This base is also the home of the Canadian
Forces Military Police Academy (CFMPA) this means that all posted
speed limits are strictly enforced.
Place this event on your watchlist to be posted about any
updates.
