Two alternate routes, both ending in short hike through rocky but not difficult riparian restoration creek area to get to cache placement. Cache is NOT in the riverbed.
Cache is an ammo can, containing bunny ears, bunny and plastic egg, fake 20 dollar gold piece, real Gila River Casino dollar token, lexor jump drive, other items. Two routes in, one ending off a high clearance road within 400 feet creekbed walk to cache, one ending off sandy wash road within 1/2 mile creekbed walk of cache.
To begin: Drive to 100 mile marker on Highway 180. Turn off Highway 180 onto Saddlerock Canyon road (dirt, passenger car do-able road). Go 1.9 miles to where route splits into Forest Roads 118 & 810 (the alternate route takes the left fork). Take the right fork (#810) 3.1 miles to a gate. Go about 0.1 mile past the gate and park. Trailhead is at N32 44.943 W 108 31.483. Hike up canyon 1/2 mile or less to cache.
Alternate route with more driving and less hiking: Follow Road # 118 4.2 miles to junction with Road # 130. Turn right and go 1.5 miles ( a high clearance vehicle is recommended for this stretch). Views of 2006 Wild Horse fire off to the left. Park at N32 44.455 W108 31.409. Don't trespass onto private land where the shack is located. Saddlerock Ripariation Restoration signage here. Park, follow creekbed down about 400 feet to cache area.
(For those who couldn't find this one prior to 6-17-07, we had to reset the coordinates as our GPS had somehow gotten set to the wrong map datum.)
