Forbes Creek Adventure Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

WRASTRO: George went out and checked on this one today. Sure enough, the container is gone. Since the hide location is obviously known by those who play in these woods it is time to let this one go. This lasted almost eights years!

Geocache Description:

Hopefully this will be an easy find once you get to the area. This cache is located in the heart of the eastern portion of Kirkland's Juanita Bay Park - which is mostly a very wet and muddy place. The cache is a somewhat worse for the wear decon container rescued from a nearby cache when it (the cache and the container) had some problems.

The recommended approach is from 108th and 108th. Go figure. It is just one of those Eastside places where the numbers run together. Find the parking and head west. There is a clear side trail heading into the heart of the park. After a short walk you will come to Forbes Creek and you will need to figure out how to get across it. We jumped but you may not be up to that little challenge. If you can't jump you should be prepared to get wet or figure out how to get to the other side of the creek. An 8' board (which you will need to supply) could be an appropriate tool for this hunt.

After negotiating the creek you will encounter various muddy patches (remember we placed this in early April), more water (but there is no need for more jumping) and lots of sticky pokey things. Dress accordingly!

There is an alternate access point from Forbes Creek Drive but there is no nearby parking and you must determine the correct access point and then the best path to follow once you are into the woods. There is also an area that appears to be in use by an unofficial group, which you will probably want to avoid. If you want to minimize your exposure to the mud and muck this is the way to go, but the adventure is a bit different since you need to find a place to park and then you need to find the correct access point into the woods.

The cache is in a traditional geocaching hide location and you only need to take a few steps off the trail to retrieve it. Please make sure to re-hide it well so the casual wetlands wanderer won't notice it as he or she slogs by. This isn't intended to be super hard so use the hint if you need it.
