El Montgó se alza imponente ante nosotros desde Dénia/Xàbia, con una altura máxima de 753 metros. Os propongo esta dura ruta que hará las delicias de los auténticos montañeros.
En el siglo pasado, su cumbre sirvió para establecer el meridiano de París. A sus pies se encuentran poblaciones de intensa vida turística y con tradiciones muy enraizadas en las actividades rurales. También dispone de parajes naturales de difícil acceso.
Esta montaña tiene aspecto de gran tortuga dormida, y es por ello que hemos querido llamar a este cache ISLA TORTUGA. Desde su cumbre, en días claros, se puede divisar la isla de Ibiza.
El Montgó es hoy un importante parque natural que ofrece al visitante interesantes variedades de botánica mediterránea. Por favor, conservad el entorno, se trata de un espacio protegido en el que no se debe molestar a la fauna ni a la flora.
Nuestro cache es un tupperware de unos 2 litros conteniendo algunos objetos muy interesantes que esperamos que os gusten. Por favor, si tomáis algo dejad otra cosa de igual o mayor interés para continuar con el juego.
Nosotros haremos la ruta más larga: el camí de les creuetes. El camino empieza en WP-INICIO(N 38º 49.096' E 0º 6.397') donde dejamos el asfalto y el coche junto a la Ermita del Pare Pere (N 38º 49,117' E 0º 6,429'). Comienza un ascenso ligero hasta WP1 (N 38º 49.002' E 0º 6.306') donde tomamos la senda de la izquierda hacia les creuetes. Durante unos 50 minutos seguiremos el camino hasta La Cova del Camell en WP2 (N 38º 48.298' E 0º 8.425') y allí habrá un duro ascenso de unos 20 metros. Al llegar al nuevo nivel seguiremos la senda de la derecha hasta el tronco de pirámide de roca WP3 (N 38º 48.211' E 0º 8.503'), y de allí hasta el WP4 (N 38º 48.121' E 0º 8.570') donde nos incorporamos a un camino de tierra que tomamos a la derecha hasta WP5 (N 38º 48,119' E 0º 8.492') donde empieza el verdadero ascenso al Montgó. Desde allí, no abandonar nunca la senda que nos llevará a la Creueta Cima a 753 metros de altura.
NOTA: Es muy importante acudir con un calzado adecuado y mucha agua. Aunque nos pese en el ascenso, una botella de 2 litros será necesaria ya que no hay fuentes a lo largo del trayecto y se tarda en completar unas 4 ó 5 horas (ida y vuelta).

During last century, its summit was used to stablish the meridian of Paris. Next to it there are some really touristic towns with their rural traditions. It also has some natural places of difficult access.
This mountain has the shape of an asleep tortoise, and that is why we wanted to call this cache ISLA TORTUGA (Tortoise Island). From its summit you can see Ibiza island in sunny days.
The Montgó is today an important natural reserve which offers the visitor interesting varieties of Mediterranean botanics. Please, take care of the environment, it is a protected area and you should NOT DISTURB fauna and flora.
Our cache is a two litre tupperware containing some very interesting items which we hope you enjoy. Please, if you take something leave something in return of the same or greater interest to keep on playing.
We will take the longest path: el camí de les creuetes. The path begins in WP-INICIO(N 38º 49.096' E 0º 6.397') where we will leave the tarmak and the car behind, next to the Ermita del Pare Pere (N 38º 49,117' E 0º 6,429'). A light steep starts until WP1 (N 38º 49.002' E 0º 6.306') where we will take the path on the left to les creuetes. We will continue for about 50 minutes along the path to La Cova del Camell in WP2 (N 38º 48.298' E 0º 8.425') and there will be a hard hike of approximately 20 metres. Once reached the next level we will follow the path on the right till the rock monolith WP3 (N 38º 48.211' E 0º 8.503'), and from there to WP4 (N 38º 48.121' E 0º 8.570') where we will find a well marked path which will follow to the right till WP5 (N 38º 48,119' E 0º 8.492') where the TRUE Montgó hike begins. From there, never leave the path that will lead us to the Creueta Cima at 753 metres of height.
NOTE: It is very important to wear adequate shoes and a lot of fresh water. Even though it may be heavy to carry during the hike, a two litre bottle of water will be necessary as there are no fountains along the way and it takes about 4 or 5 hours to complete (there and back).
