home to a Great Blue Heron rookery, rare sedges and the Lake County
Forest Preserve District's Planning, Conservation and Development
offices. The site is a popular favorite among birders. On a good
day, an astute observer may sight three dozen species including a
wide variety of waterfowl, and raptors including Cooper's Hawks or
a Peregrine Falcon. Location Almond Marsh is located in central
Lake County near Grayslake. The Natural Scene The highlight of this
site is the significant marsh and sedge meadow complex.
