This cache is placed at a rock formation known locally as Beaver Rocks. The Beaver Rocks offer some very scenic views of Tamaqua and its surroundings. Some younger folk know this as the "Deadhead Rocks", as for many years there was a Grateful Dead logo painted on them.
Don't access the cache from the mine reclamation area - that's the grassy area slightly north of the Beaver Rocks. It is still in use, there are monitor stations and a mine water runoff facility there.
You must access the cache from the Lehigh & New England Rail Trail. There is no specific point to leave the path, anywhere will work. No matter where you choose to leave the path it is a steep climb. When you reach the top of the Beaver Rocks you be close to 1100 feet above sea level. Depending on the accuracy reading, my receiver has read from 1082 to 1105 feet. Altitude at street level in downtown Tamaqua is about 780 feet above sea level.
The cache is NOT on posted land. You will, however, be close enough to posted land to see No Trespassing signs. Don't go any farther up than the top of Beaver Rocks and you will be fine.
After you find the cache, enjoy the view. Please be careful on your way back down.
