Geocache Description:

Most Southerly cache in Scotland, in the Mull of Galloway.

NOTE: Use N54.38.314, W004.52.415 until the headline changes - the original site proved a bit too public, so it was moved a wee bit further North and West, but closer to the actual Gallie Craig itself: then the new site was removed by a landslide, so hopefully it's third time lucky.

Gallie Craig is the most Southerly point in Scotland. The cache isn't on Gallie Craig for safety reasons but is close by.

The cache is only a few metres above and away from the sea, but safe from high tides. Park on the grass near the cattle grid and walk down into the bay. Most of the approach is on the coastal path, but the last wee bit involves a bit of a scramble. If you pass a skeleton on the way don't worry, it's ovine, not human.

Once you've found it, carry on to the end of the Mull. It is a high plateau surrounded by steep cliffs but is suitable for dogs on leads and children under supervision (or the other way round).

Spend some time looking at the 26 metre high lighthouse, built to a design by Robert Stevenson, which came into use in 1830. It is also a good area for viewing sea birds as part of the area is an RSPB sanctuary. It has an excellent visitor centre and tearoom close by.

The cache is fairly small.
