Geocache Description:

“OHIO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Ohio Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of historic cemeteries built by Buckeye Pioneers. This series is inspired by and a continuation of the Indiana Spirit Quest caches created by Six Dog Team. In just over three years, the SPIRIT QUEST has grown to over 550 caches, with the hiding teams growing as well. The Ohio Spirit Quest has begun to grow with fifteen current hides in one Northwest Ohio county, with four current caching teams, three each with A Man and His Dog... and one with A Woman and her Dog. Over 1,000 cachers have logged over 20,000 finds. One cache machine found 111 ISQ caches in a single day (daylight hours only). PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF POSTED CEMETERY HOURS, TYPICALLY DAWN TO DUSK. ANY FIND LOGS INDICATING NIGHT CACHING WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE.

Come with us now for a virtual tour of this old burial ground via this page, then go out and find the cache!

OHIO SPIRIT QUEST #015
”You can't eat at Joe's"

This is our fifteenth hide across the border in Ohio. Listen to what TMA has to say:

Welcome to Saint Joseph Cemetery, Florence Township, Williams County, Ohio.

This is an incredibly well kept cemetery, right off SR 34, in Blakeslee, Ohio.

Saint Joseph Cemetery sits on the east side of the state route, looking majestic as you drive out of Blakeslee. A healthy mix of dates on the tombstones, with a lot of newer stones scattered about.

One family of note buried here are the Thiels, from Luxembourg. They emigrated to the United States in mid 1800's, and came to reside in Williams County. Buried here are Anna Schmidt, Matthias, Nicholas, Rose Brosemer, and Donald, to name a few. Donald was in the U.S. Army during World War II.

There might be an FTF Geocoin involved, I forget :) TMA

Various Headstones

The cache container is a camo'd small lok 'n' lok. -- BYOP. Plenty of parking. If you find a fallen US flag, please stick it back in the ground. As always, please be respectful, and cache in, trash out. Pray for our Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, CoastGuardsmen and Airmen in harm's way. All photos by -Eleanor-.
