Fafnir's Prison Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cach'n Cruisers: Sadly the prison has been stolen. The mugglers had better prepare for the wrath of Fafnir. Thanks for all the great logs.

Geocache Description:

Almost a park and grab on a beautiful country road.

Nordic mythology holds that Fafnir, son of the dwarf king Hreidmar, was the powerful and fearless guardian of his father’s house and treasure. Fafnir and his brother killed their father to obtain the cursed gold of Andvari. Fafnir transformed into a dragon to take the treasure for himself.

The hero, Sigurd, is reported to have slain Fafnir with the sword Gram.

Contrary to this legend, Sigurd was not able to kill Fafnir but instead imprisoned him in an ammo box in Central Texas. He continues as the guardian of untold treasures. You can hear his roar as cars approach from across the creek.

This is the first cache by the Cach’n Cruisers. It is dedicated it to the memory of Mary V. Jay, an adventuresome spirit and lover of tales. We hope you enjoy this cache. We left a Geocoin, the sword Gram, and various items to trade. Be aware of Fafnir, he lingers still.
