If La Mariana Sailing Club decided to tell all of it's secrets, it
would fill a novel. For over 50 years this place has been
Honolulu's hideaway. Tucked along the waterfront at Keehi Lagoon,
the decor at the La Mariana Sailing Club is a mixture of colored
glass floats, hundreds of feet of floating dock, tiki's, and a
waterfall.
Several historical items from past Waikiki landmarks such as
furniture from Don the Beachcomber and decorative lamps from Trader
Vic's can be found through-out the property. This is why many
visitors come to the La Mariana today. "It's different, it's truly
Hawaiian. And there isn't anything like it," says Annette Nahinu,
the original founder of La Mariana.
Any port that has existed as long as this one will have a
survival story to tell and La Mariana is no exception. It’s
survived a direct hit from a tsunami, several attempts by the
Harbor Commission to shut it down, and countless invasions by
Pirates that traveled there by land and sea.
