This cache is located just west of Onida, S.D. Permission was granted for the cache to be placed at the location and the city owns this property.
This area is full of wildlife and when we placed the cache, my 3 year old son found an 8 point buck in the area. You will know what I am talking about when you see it if you come to the cache from the north. Easy walk to this one from the nearby road. The walk to the cache is slightly uneven, so watch your step! The cache is a painted peanut container with room for trade items. The cache has been filled with some swag and if you take an item please leave something behind for other geocachers to find. Place the cache back as you found it, no harder and no easier. We placed the cache on April 15, 2007 while visiting my wife’s dad who lives in Onida. This is also the hometown of my wife and we enjoyed placing this cache at this location. When you walk to the cache, you will understand why it is named Pinecone Haven! Enjoy the cache and good luck!
