St John the Baptist Church is the most westerly in the Diocese of Chichester. There has been a place of worship on this site since Saxon times and the present building dates from the 13th Century, having been extensively rebuilt at the end of the 15th Century. During this time the yew trees beside the path were planted to form the oldest yew avenue in England.
