Geocache Description:

One good Tern...deserves another!

After our really enjoyable walk setting our other River Tern realated cache, we thought we'd add this cache to complete the circular walk. It is set very close to the River Tern in a lovely water meadow full of wild flowers.

The cache is situated very close to a permissive pathway and by a sandstone bluff on what we beleive to be the continutation of the drover's trail from earlier in the walk. There is evidence of quarrying in the sandstone which we assume was a ready made source of building materials for some of the local houses.

From the cache area, you are surrounded by traditional water meadows which are in full flower at the moment and absolutely stunning. The River Tern is very closeby as it approaches the confluence with the River Meese.

We recommend making this into a circular walk. Suggested parking is on the hard standing at the side of the road in Great Bolas (approx N52 47.318 W2 31.347). Head towards the obvious church tower, which is the church of St John's at Bolas Magna. Follow the track down to the stile at N52 47.139 W2 31.856 before continuing to our Meesechievous - One Good Tern... cache.

From there, follow the Tern round to where the River Tern and River Meese meet at approx N52 47.025 W2 32.232. Then onwards to our Meesechievous - About Tern and Meesechievous - Wild Drover caches. Continue along the Public Footpath, which eventually leads back to the road (the footpath goes through someone's back garden at Bolas Bridge cottage so please respect the owner's privacy and we'd ask that you do not do the cache at night, for obvious reasons). Follow the road back up the hill to the suggested parking location.
