Hidden Lake Forest Preserve comprises 390 acres of trees, rivers and lakes. This forest preserve attracts many types of birds and is a well-known spot for bird-watchers. This area is one of the few places the Osprey bird can be seen during it's migration season.

This piece of land has gone through many owners over the years; beginning with a Native American Pottawatomie Village in the 1800's. This village; called Round Meadow is the first time that the name "Round Meadow" shows up in historical records. Today, the lake at the corner of Butterfield and Rte. 53 is named after the Pottawatomie Village. .

Round Meadow Lake is a man-made lake and (corner of Butterfield and Rte 53) was created in conjunction with I-355 Highway. The gravel dug from the site was used for construction of the highway. Recent additions to the park of picnic tables, restrooms and ample parking make this an enjoyable spot to "drop a line" in the water! Fishing is allowed from the shores or from non-motorized boats.

*CAUTION: Over the years several types of materials have been used for boundary markers ~ trees, wood fencing and barbed wire. Please use CAUTION around any barbed wire.
*Due to the number of logs posting about TICKS I'm providing a link for proper removal of TICKS from the Lyme Disease Association with a link to a very good brochure. Have fun, Be Safe! USE BUG REPELLANT!
