Geocache Description:

A little histoy:
From the early days the Goulburn river was Sheppartons main sorce of water. It was first carried in barrels on a sledge to the railway yards up untill 1880 when Sheppartons first water tower was constructed in the railway yard. In 1887 the Shepparton urban water works trust was established and by 1889 they had built a pumping station in Welsford street. The pumping station housed a large tangye steam pump water was fed by a tunnel from the Goulburn river the steam driven pump would emit deep puffs which could be heard for a great distance. This pump continued to operate untill 1927 when it was replaced by an electric motor pump. Another brick water tower was simultaneously constructed in Fryers street and a second one at Welsford st in 1903. In 1931 the first water puification plant was completed by the Shepparton urban water trust its capacity then a mere 1.25 million gallons per day. In 1984 the storage and officers of Shepparton water trust opened which is the landmark for the Water Drop cache this futuristic design hovers on Shepparton horizon. With the country side beening so flat getting water presure to house hold uses can be challanging this towers design has water pumped into and stored in its elvated sphere then with the help of gravity the water is funneled back down under presure. Currently the output of purified water is 8 million gallons per day with works beening authorised to increase this figue to 12 million gallons per day. This is a small cache with small swaps log and pencil have fun ...... Silver dice
