Shoot-em-up Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

don_t: Archived and the cache container has been removed. The Department of Energy seems to be controlling access more, now there is a locked chain across the road and you can see where they had some yellow caution "Keep Out" tape. This is in addition to a "No Trespassing" sign that has bullet holes in it. Hence, I have removed the cache to avoid anyone getting into trouble with the officials.

Geocache Description:

This area in Rendija Canyon was used in the past (probably illegally) as a shooting range and you can see some of the remnants scattered around. Hence, the name.

The cache is a large ammo box (thanks to Jan and Oscar), less than a half mile from the trailhead at N35 54.654 W106 15.902. Be careful walking the road, the small pieces of pumice act like ball bearings, making walking downhill tricky. Saw a bunch of deer in the area when setting the cache. This is a kid-friendly cache.
