This cache is placed at an abandoned farmstead that is accessible via a recently completed 5-mile section of the Falls Lake/Mountains-to-Sea Trail that runs between Rt. 50 and Boyce Mill Road. More information about the MST, which will eventually be a 900-mile+ hiking trail from Clingman's Dome to Jockey Ridge State Park, is available at www.ncmst.org.
The waypoint for the trailhead/parking on Boyce Mill Road is listed below. From there the round trip hike is 2.5 to 3 miles. The round trip is ~ 7 miles if you come in from the trailhead along Rt. 50.
This cache is mostly about the hike, but there is a little physical challenge at the site as well. The cache is not necessarily in plain sight, and you will probably need to use the explicit hint. The cache owner is not responsible for any injuries incurred by persons attempting this cache, and therefore you do so at your own risk. Please replace the cache as you found it.
