Ditsworthy Warren House was used in the making of the film “War horse”
Rabbit warrening has a history spanning nearly 700 years on Dartmoor, and certainly the warrens in this area were among the earliest to be established.
The warreners piled up mounds of earth and small stones in which the rabbits could burrow. Nets and dogs were used to catch the animals, and there would be a special building for cleaning the carcases before transporting them to Plymouth or, in later days, the railway station at Yelverton or Dousland.
The small field beside the house still contains several kennels built into the thickness of the wall.
