Geocache Description:

This used to be an ammo can, but it got muggled. It is now a small round plastic soup container, but is still hidden in same place.

The rangers at Hop Brook Lake take pride in their JR Ranger summer day camp program and they enjoy doing interpretive programs for all people, especially kids. So, we thought that since the rangers here like to see kids enjoying the wonders of nature, we thought we would hide a kid’s cache here. The cache is an ammo can whose original contents will be: bouncy balls, a whoopee cushion, paddle balls, a squishy soccer ball, rubber frogs and a tube of bubbles.
If you take the most direct way to the cache, it will require a small climb up a somewhat rocky hill (what kid doesn’t like to climb). If you do not want to climb, you can walk about 30 ft. past the cache. There is a set of old stone steps leading to a flat clearing. You can go up the steps and head back toward the cache.
On your way back from the cache, stop and check out the old stone foundation on the left where an old knife factory used to be.
The cache is hidden at Hop Brook Lake Park. Hop Brook is a US Army Corps of Engineers park. We have received permission form the Corps to place this cache. The park is open from 8:00 a.m. – about a half hour before sunset or 8pm, whichever comes 1st. There is a fee $4.00 per vehicle to enter the park (fee booth is open the weekend before Memorial Day to the weekend after Labor Day from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. During the off-season, there is a small parking lot you can park in and walk down into the park. For further details on Hop Brook Lake check out the following link: (visit link)

Fee booth attendants and kiosks in the park have maps for you to use.

Check out other caches hidden in the park. We believe there are a few President’s series letterboxes hidden in the park as well.
