You will need to drive towards Wrightwood and park in the Jackson Lake turn-out. This requires a forest adventure pass.
In 1812 and 1857, a terrible earthquake shook this area so dramatically it formed a SAG pond, which is now known as Jackson Lake. Scientists estimate it was at least a point 8 on the R. Scale. This area has strong fossil evidence for movement on the San Andreas Fault, as does the Cajun Pass Area.
Earthquakes aside, Jackson Lake is absolutely lovely and serene, a place for ducks and fishing. There are ample picnic tables nearby. Once, overcome by heat, I swam across it and was delighted to see nearby turtles. Enjoy your hunting, and if you've already found the former SAG POND CACHE, you can find this one, too, as it is in a different locale. (It's a good excuse to return!)
