In the middle of this god-forsaken swamp is an ammo box. It's
rusty, probably already filled with water, and I'm guessing the log
book is sooo soaked so you won't be able to sign it. (That's okay,
the pen in the ammo box ran out of ink long ago.) It's filled with
worthless McToys and .99cent DollarStore stuff so why would you
even bother looking for it? Anyway, in order to get to it you'll
have to grab a canoe or a kayak or a raft and, like, there's
MOSQUITOS and stuff out here. These aren't ordinary skeetos, these
are CICERO SWAMP SKEETOS, the kind your Grandfather warned you
about...Skeetos so huge they could easily carry off a '69 Cadillac.
And there's like MUD and stuff...and you'll probably get wet...and
as you paddle your canoe or kayak or whatever thru' the
Doom-infested-Swamp you'll here the squeeky little voices of the
Cicero Swamp Leeches snickering to themselves as they wait for you
to fall overboard so they can feast upon your very soul.
If I was you I'd play it safe and go look for a micro somewhere.
I'm sure it's safer and you won't get muddy or eaten up by
skeeters. Or maybe there's a good game on TV?
But if you're stupid enough (like us!) park your GeoVehicle at
the end of Davis Road and launch your canoe. (The Government has
provided this spot for us so I'm sure there's a Conspiracy behind
it.) On the way to the rusty ammo box you will encounter the
dreaded Cicero Swamp Skeeto, vile Swamp Slugs, and stinky Marsh
Muck, but you will also see more ducks and geese than you can shake
a stick at. If you come in early May you'll see so many baby
ducklings and gooselings you'll want to jump out of your boat and
just HUG'EM they are so CUTE!!! A choir of peeper frogs will sing
of the Fabled Quest of Legendary Geocachers to you as you paddle
along, and bullfrogs will recite poems written in honor of this
Epic Journey you are undertaking. And red-winged black birds,
robins, cardinals...And beavers...and muskrats...maybe a snapping
turtle...and ssssssnnnakes, and VERY big fish, although we weren't
sure what kind of fish they were but they are HUGE
