Geocache Description:

There is a dirt path that leads to a dirt road for parking across from the Stone Couch. Don't park on the road...there is not enough room. Cache is a small container so BYOP. There are some nearby caches worth checking out.

"IN ECKLEY, PA there is a stone couch by the side of the road. It is rumored that if you sit on it you will be scratched - and if you sit on it again, you will be wounded. If you dare sit on it a third time, you will meet with an untimely demise."... "ONE of the main plots of the story deals with the Stone Couch, which is just what you might think it is. It's a big rock near Eckley Miner's Village in Pennsylvania that just happens to resemble a couch. The story explains it was created by a long forgotten people and that there is an identical stone couch on every continent guarded by a creature similar to the coal golem. Our idea was that the creature would be made of whatever material is prominently mined in that part of the world. For example in North America the golem is made of coal, in South America it's made of gold (the whole El Dorado thing), in Asia it's made of jade, etc."... "STONE COUCH (ECKLEY) - It's shaped invitingly like a couch, which probably lends to the story that if you lay on it enough times, you'll die. One story is that a woman and her baby were killed by a stagecoach, while sitting on the couch, in the days of Eckley operating as a miners village. If you sit on the couch once, you get bad luck. You sit on it twice, and someone you know dies. Sit on it a third time, and you die. Besides for the nice story, true or not, there is no evidence of any paranormal activity at this site. Conclusion: Not haunted."... "ECKLEY - stone couch on side of road - story be told....sit on the couch once and you get a scratch....sit on it again and you bleed...sit on it the third and final time you die. bad luck comes to those that sit on this stone couch."... "STONE COUCH ********Haunted: Weird phenomenon associated with this! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The stone couch is exactly what it sounds like, a stone that looks like a couch. It is located on the side of the road near Weatherly Pa, near Freeland. (The location is hard to exactly pinpoint). Rumor has it if you sit on the couch bad luck will follow you, If you sit on it once you will get sick.. If you sit on it three times you will die. Some kids after sitting on it were in a very bad car accident the same night." Stealth may or may not be required...the road is not too heavily traveled. Please return cache so it is concealed.
