Equine Intersection Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

South Lyon Trekkers: I came out today with Adventure Dog to pick up may caches in BSRA. These caches have been here a while and the area has changed quite a bit. These were some of the first caches I put out and I remember the hikes to them being somewhat long and tiring. They seemed pretty quick today and not as tiring. This cache had a good run, but it is farther from home than I care to maintain. A good park though. -SLT

Geocache Description:

This geocache is located in the Brighton State Recreation Area and offers miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horse riding. A motor vehicle permit is needed and daily permits are $6.00 for Michigan residents, $8.00 for non-residents.

Please keep in mind that all trails in the Brighton State Recreation Area are pass through lands open to hunting.

This geocache is located along one of the bridle trails in the park. This particular area is along the trail that connects the east bridle trails to the west bridle trails, hence the geocache's name. The trails are well defined and marked, but can be a bit uneven at points and quite muddy after sufficient rain. The geocache is off the trail, but no bushwhacking is required.

There are multiple entry points onto the trail. Starting from the west trailhead would make this a .55 mile hike. The hike can also start at the Equestrian Campground off Chilson Rd. by the park headquarters. This is also where the amenities are located. It is about a .85 mile hike from the east. There many trails through here so take the Equestrian Trails map. Start at intersection #1 and follow that to intersection #13 followed by: #14, #10, #9, #8, #7, and then take the trail toward intersection #18.

This geocache was placed to help promote geocaching during the DNR's Spring Fling event on May 6, 2007. This geocache is one of the first to be placed under the new agreement between the DNR and the Michigan Geocaching Organization (MiGO) which allows MiGO members to place geocaches in state parks without a permit fee.

This geocache was stocked with a good amount of trade items. Please trade fairly for other geocachers. Travel bugs and geocoins are welcome.

The container is a rectangular, clear, Lock & Lock box with some camouflage Duck Tape strategically placed.

We take great care in creating and hiding our geocaches. If ever one of our geocaches needs maintenance of any type, please do not hesitate to contact us by posting a log or by e-mail. We will promptly rectify the problem.

Don't forget Cache In Trash Out.

An unactivated travel bug was the FTF prize. It was claimed by michigansnorkeler on May 5, 2007. Congratulations!
