Geocache Description:

This is a 1.5 mile walk over the fields above St.Peters Church, Leckhampton, Cheltenham. This is a popular route with local dog walkers. As a short morning walk, it is one of my favourites.

The way can be muddy, particularly after rain, and is steep in places. One of the stiles on the route is difficult to spot and in bad repair. A nearby gate, 100 metres downhill, provides a less direct alternative.

The co-ordinates given are actually for a map showing footpaths in the local area. Parking is available in the layby by the map.

From the map, gather the following information:

ABB = largest number of metres on the map scale

To start the walk, cross the stile and, using the paths, head across the field and up the hill to the Race Horses Grave. (See additional waypoints)

This is the local name for a monument raised to the memory of The Continental, a famous racehorse who won 25 steeplechases. It is a good spot at which to get a breath and take in the view across the Severn Valley to the Malvern Hills.

Looking at the monument, read the faded inscription (or for less of a challenge, the plaque) to get the following information:

C = number of letters in the first word of the last line

D = number of letters in the second word of the last line

If you wish to know the full inscription, then please contact the cache owner.

The cache is a regular (2.5 litre) storage container at N51 52.CBD W002 04.A(A+D)D.

The cache location is popular. Retrieving the cache and moving away from the site is recommended. Please hide it very carefully when you replace it.

Having completed the cache, return to the fields and make for the swing gate (see additional waypoints). From there turn left onto Collum End Rise and left again onto Church Road.
