This is a Letterbox Cache. Letterboxes are a new type of cache but letterboxing has been around for a long time.(you can find out more on links from the geocaching website) The idea is that you go out and get yourself a stamp (or you make one from a rubber eraser or rubber of some sort) You also need a book to stamp impressions in that you keep and an ink pad or some felt markers. So that you can collect stamped memories.
To find this cache you bring your stamp and book with you. In the cache (which is and ammo container) you will find a stamp tied to the lid of the cache and a log book and some markers. (These are not for trading) You stamp your stamp in the cache log book and then stamp the cache stamp in you log book. (note that the stamp in the cache is about 2 inches by 2 inches you'll need a log book that big or you could take a partial impression of the stamp in the cache) You can write down thoughts along with your impression too. This way you have a memory in the form of a picture in your log and you would use this to collect other impressions from other letterboxes. There is also an element of sending letters or postcards using the letterbox caches for the letters to travel. There are some trading items in the cache too (small stamps make really good trading items and there a some in the cache) and I have placed a first to find prize of a letterbox logbook in the cache. Don't forget to bring your stamp and personal log book and if it's really cold out the felt markers in the cache won't work so you will need your own ink.
