By placing a cache at this spot, I am combining my two favorite hobbies.....reading and geo-caching.
From 1965-1975, the residents were able to satisfy their thirst for knowledge with book deliveries from the local Bookmobile. In July of 1973, the South Haven Public Library along with Valparaiso, Portage and Kouts, merged to form the Valparaiso-Porter County Public System. In 1990, Hebron joined the system. In March of 1975, the South Haven Public Library opened and contained 7,500 items. Over time, the library outgrew that facility and plans were made to build a new library. The new library was opened in 1995. After just a few short months of being in the new building, a sprinkler system pipe burst and filled the library with water. The entire building was flooded and a large section of the ceiling collapsed, damaging over 3,000 items. The total damage amounted to over $350,000 and the library was closed for four months for renovations. That was over ten years ago and the South Haven library has not had any more water problems.
Enjoy finding the cache and if the cache needs attention or the coordinates are off, please let me know so I can fix the problem. At certain times, the place could be filled with muggles. Happy hunting!
There is a small FTF prize in the cache.
