Geocache Description:

An easy little rural cache, honoring an old school which stood at this location from 1872 to 1967.

On this site stood a rural school in Rockwood School Division #19. It stood for almost 100 years and performed many functions. Not only was it the school house, but also the dance hall, recreation centre and place of worship, among other things. An extremely quiet and peaceful location, with only the occasional vehicle driving by. If you close your eyes, you can almost hear the children playing in the schoolyard. Now all that is left is a farmer's field and a cairn to mark the location's past. Also a cemetery nearby, with some very old tombstones -- marking the resting place of pioneers who lived and passed on, as far back as the mid-1800's. Log book and various trade-ables inside the container, along with a certificate for the FTF. Please sign in! Enjoy.....
