UPDATE 12.15.07: Final moved and puzzle clues adjusted to accommodate new final location.
This one will take you back to school for a quick and interesting history lesson on WWII. I have provided 2 reference points to get you started on the right track.
Both reference points are on the grounds of Appleton West High School and you are limited to off-school hours for viewing the reference points. Schools hours are: 7:00 to 3:30, September 1st through June 8th. PLEASE make every attempt to visit the reference point during OFF-SCHOOL hours. Permission was granted by the school principal to search during non-school hours only. Searching during school hours may result in the archiving of this cache.
Reference Point one will take you to a Memorial dedicated to a specific individual. Once you know who that individual is, you will be able to answer the following questions to get the final coordinates.
Reference Point 2 is provided for reflection only
A: In a book written by the son of the memorialized person, the crew of a bomber is shot down. How many members of the crew are still alive today?
B: How many of the soldiers memorialized survived the ensuing battle? (*2)
CD: Referencing A, one of the original crew members has a significant number attributed to him later in life. What is the number? Subtract from it the day of the month this same survivor made his fifth lifetime parachute jump.
E: Referencing A, how many members of that crew survived the initial crash?, some of which were latter captured, beheaded and partially eaten.
FG: In the memorialized battle, the opposing force had 22K troops on the field. On the battlefield where the crew referenced in A was shot down, the opposing force had how many K troops? (+1K)
H: What is the sum of the hull number of the military vessel that rescued one of the survivors of the crash? (-5)
IJ: What is the number of weeks that the authors 2nd book spent on the New Your Times Bestseller - Paperback list? (*1.5)
