Geocache Description:

Velda Mound Park!

Living in this neighborhood a few years ago, we would often walk by this location on our way to A.J. Henry Park. We would always wonder when someone was going to clean up this "lot" and build a house on it. To the untrained eye, it simply looked like a junky lot where dirt from surrounding development had been piled.

Ten (10) years later, as we were driving by on our way to a nearby cache, we saw that this location had been wonderfully restored and actually held quite a historical treasure. Now, this location highlights a wonderfully restored piece of history dating back possibly 1,000 years... ...The Velda Mound!

Please be sure to check out the informational/educational board, pictured above, at the entrance to the park! It contains some incredibly interesting information.

The cache is NOT hidden on or very near the mound. Please be mindful of this historically sensitive area. Please rehide this cache carefully to ensure its security and longevity.
