Geocache Description:

WP1: S 37° 45.298 E 144° 53.054

The above coordinates are false; the cache (SamCarter's first) is not there. However, once you have solved the puzzle, the above coordinates allow car parking and are less than 400m of worthwhile walking from the cache location, so I suggest you start from WP1 before heading off. You will maximize the experience if you stay on the path until your GPSr says you are within 70-75m of the cache. Do be mindful of slithery things. Degree of difficulty reflects the puzzle, not the final hide.

Ode to Caching

* Oh Sigh * with joy, it's Saturday!
Clear sky or rain? Don't care!
Go grab the Garmin, I'm away,
Determined to find where
Each cache is hiding in its spot,
Both big or micro-sized,
Except my search goes cold and hot —
GZ must be revised .

A waypoint start, enjoy the view,
Dodge muggles small and large.
Deduce the puzzle, read the clue,
Expect some camouflage.
Believe the arrow as it guides,
Hunt high or grovel low,
Hate or love those rocky hides!
By George! It’s there! Bingo!!

At the time of hiding the cache contained: a First-to-Find certificate, two Smiggles boy clips, two bicycle wheel reflectors, stick'em notes, echidna, Tassie devil, hacky sack, magnetic key hider, candle, plastic slinky toy, padlock, blue agate, and Lion Iron Pants TB.

Note:
For a longer adventure, if you are bicycly inclined, you can cycle the whole Maribyrnong River trail and pick up this cache on the way. At the city end of the trail you can find "CCT-8 Maribyrnong River Trail" (GCRZB7), which is part of the "The Capital City Trail" series of caches. There is a cache near Van Ness Avenue about 5km to the south of WP1 ("Danny Boy", GC83AB). The pleasant Brimbank Park, with two caches, is at the outer end of the trail another 12km northwest of WP1 ("Meccano Crossing" (GC94BC) and "Gabrielle's Treasure Box" (GCMGT0)).
