Geocache Description:

A pleasant stroll along the Rail Trail in Alburg, part of which will take you through the Mud Creek Wildlife Management Area. If you are a bird watcher, don't forget your binoculars!

This cache has gone through a couple of layout changes, but here it is for your enjoyment. The start of the cache begins in Alburg. It takes you along a section of what used to be the Central Vermont Railroad track. Along the way you will visit bits and pieces that are left over from the days when the trail was a real railroad.

Here's a more flowery description from railserve.com:
"Nestled in the remote, lake-filled region of northwestern Vermont, just a few miles from the Canadian border, is the short and easy-to-overlook Alburg Recreational Rail-Trail.
But you won't want to miss this 3.5-mile trail. It is a birder's paradise, with Mud Creek Waterfowl Area on the western end of the trail and the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge a few miles east of the eastern endpoint. "

And from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife:
"Expect to find white-tailed deer, grey squirrel, raccoon, beaver, muskrat, mink, otter, ruffed grouse, turkey, black, mallard and wood ducks, hooded merganser, and blue-winged teal." (and a partridge in a pear tree)

About the cache: It is a 5 stage multi. 1 micro, 1 small, 2 gather infos and the final which is a 4 cup lock-n-lock, stocked with some of the finest trade items in all of Alburg! For the first-to-find there is FTF button and non-activated TB tags.

As always, we hope you have fun with this cache!

Thanks to Gary of the Vermont Dept. of Forests, Parks and Recreation for the guidance and quick approval of this cache even in light of my "senior moments" and e-mail problems.
