The Mystery Picnic will take place from 12pm onwards at 50.58.735 & 003 14 126 if the weather is fine. This is Wellington Park. If the weather is bad and it's raining, Plan B is to move to the 1st Wellington Scout Hall in the high street, next to Somerfield Supermarket.
THE EVENT WILL HAPPEN NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER DECIDES TO DO!!!! We cachers are made of strong stuff.
9.30am Update (Sunday 24th June 2007). The weather looks bad so we are going to plan B. The 1st Wellington Scout Hall, next door to Somerfield Supermarket in the High Street. The co-ords for the hall are: 50.58.697 and 003.13.658. The BBQ will be there so bring what you would like cooked. The log for the event cache is at the co-ords posted (at head height) so go and log yourself and claim the event! Then come up to the hall. Parking is also behind Somerfield, up South Street, right at the mini t/b and then right into the car park. Plenty of parking and you can access the hall from the car park.
The BBQ will be available even if we are at the hall as there is cover outside.
There is a cache placed at 50.58.735 and 003.14.126 about head height. It is just there for you to log your visit to the picnic event. It is quite tricky but remember it's about head height. Just sign the log and then we will check it after the picnic and remove it.
We will have some games for the kids to take part in and I hope people will bring swaps and anything of interest. Bring your stories!
I will provide a BBQ and cooking tools so bring along your steak, burgers, bangers or whatever you fancy to cook. Somerfield supermarket will be open until 4pm if needed.
Game 1: For young kids.
At the location, we have quiz sheets for the kids. The sheets contain 5 questions. The answer to each question is a single number. Once you have found all the five numbers you may try the secret code on the safe door. If you are correct, the safe will open and you may claim a prize.
Game 2: For everyone.
A very nasty Nano has been placed in the high street somewhere. No clues at all! First to find the nano must return it to the Wellington Boots to claim their FTF prize of a box of Hero's. Just keep your eyes open when you wander round to complete the town quiz.
Game 3. For all.
Our smallest Wellington Boot has produced a caching word search for the young people and there will be prizes for the kids able to complete the puzzle.
Game 4.
A round Wellington treasure hunt has been fixed with quiz sheets available. Wander round the high street area and find the clues to claim your prize.
Caches:
We have placed the "Nano-Tracking" cache, "Scottsdale Cache", "Platform View", "Not so Hollow Hill", "Mystery Picnic Cache" and there is of course our "H2O Monument View", "Back to Wellington", the multi "Wellington Park and Walk" and The Duke of Wellington's "Shaken not Stirred 1" to do if you have not done them before.
