Getting there:
The hunt begins in Kahlenbergerdorf which is easily reached by car or bus. The easiest way to reach here by bus would be to take the U to Heiligenstadt, and then take any bus going to Klosterneuburg. Get out at the Kahlenbergerdorf stop.
It is not recommended for bikes or baby carriages though due to many steps on the return route and some fairly steep stretches. Kids will do fine. You will probably need around a couple of hours to complete this. This is a loop trail, so from the cache site you can just continue on down to the starting point.
About the Area:
Leopoldsberg is probably Vienna’s most famous overlook, with beautiful views of the Danube, the city of Vienna, with Kahlenbergerdorf below on one side and Klosterneuburg on the other side, and with Bisamberg across the river.
The Berg is 425 meters high, and forms the northeastern corner of the Alps. The slopes are fairly steep because of erosion by the Danube on one side, and small streams on the others.
There is a lot of history here; there is evidence of occupation from stone age times to the present. During Roman times the southern slopes were cleared of forest and planted in grapes, and remain so today. Leopoldsberg was originally called Kahlenberg because of the cleared land (kahl meaning bare), but after 1693 when the baroque church Leopoldskirche was built on top the name was changed to Leopoldsberg, and the name Kahlenberg was moved over to the neighboring hill.
During the Second Siege of Vienna in 1683 King Sobieski’s Polish troops gathered here, and defeated the Turkish invaders and liberated the city of Vienna. Along the way, you will see a couple of references to that event. From the parking area, walk up towards the vinyards and then follow your GPS to the starting point at Step One.
Step One – The Saintly
If you look hard enough, you can see the stars. How many stars do you see? Make that number A.

Step Three – The Picnic
Here is a good place to relax a bit, and have a little snack if you brought one along. Nearby one can play in the Klettergarten or in the Playground where there is a swing set. How many seats are there for the "swingers" That number plus 1 = shall be C.

Step Four – What a View!
Good spot for a few photos. After the long hike to this point, you can refresh yourself here in the summer with some cool water (although in winter, the water will be off). Look up when you do, and take note of the four digit number you see. Add the digits together, and you will now have a two digit number that will be D. You now have all the information you need to figure out where the cache is hidden.
To continue the loop from here after you find the cache just go in an Easterly direction.

Ausgangspunkt:
Der Cash –Hunt beginnt im Kahlenbergerdorf, das auch mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln gut erreichbar ist (U4 bis Heiligenstadt, dann Autobus nach Klosterneuburg bis zur Haltestelle Kahlenbergerdorf).
Für Fahrräder und Kinderwagen ist sie trotzdem nicht geeignet, da sie etliche Stufen und auch Steilstücke enthält. Für Kinder ist die Wanderung aber absolut kein Problem! Das ist ein Rundweg. Vom Punkt, an dem der Cache zu finden ist, geht es einfach weiter bergab bis zum Anfangspunkt.
Wissenswertes über die Umgebung:
Vom Leopolsdsberg hat man eine wunderbare Aussicht über Wien und die Donau. An der einen Seite des Berges liegt das Kahlenbergerdorf, an seiner anderen Klosterneuburg - mit Blick auf den Bisamberg, am gegenüber liegenden Donauufer.
Der Leopoldsberg ist 425m hoch und zählt zu den Ausläufern der Alpen im Nordosten. An seiner der Donau zugewandten Seite fällt er steil ab. Schon früh war diese Gegend besiedelt und sie ist reich an historischen Ereignissen.
Wie kommt es, dass das Kahlenbergerdorf am Fuß des Leopoldsberges liegt?
Schon zu Zeiten der Römer wurde hier Weinbau betrieben. Aus diesem Grund wurden Wälder abgeholzt, und dieser Kahlschlag verschaffte dem Berg den Namen Kahlenberg. Erst 1693, nach dem Bau der Leopoldskirche, wurde er in Leopoldsberg umbenannt. Der Name Kahlenberg wurde auf den Nachbarberg „verschoben“.
Während der 2. Türkenbelagerung (1683) versammelte sich das polnische Heer unter Sobieski hier, um den Wienern zu Hilfe zu kommen. Sie besiegten die Türken und befreiten die Stadt. Entlang des Weges finden sich zwei Hinweise auf dieses Ereignis. Vom Parkplatz geht es in richtung Weingärten. Folge deinem GPS zum Startpunkt Nr. 1.

Hast du etwas zum Essen mitgebracht? Dann ist das der richtige Platz für eine kleine Stärkung. Oder zum Ausrasten. In der Naehe gibt es einen Klettergarten und einen Spielplatz mit Schaukeln. Wie viele Schaukeln siehst du? Diese Zahl plus 1 ist C.

4) Was für eine Aussicht!
Ein guter Platz für ein paar Fotos! Kommst du im Sommer, kannst du dich nun nach der langen Wanderung mit kühlem Wasser erfrischen. Schau dabei nach oben, und du wirst eine vierstellige Zahl sehen. Bilde die Ziffernsumme und nimm die zweistellige Zahl, die dabei herauskommt, als D. Jetzt hast du alle Informationen, die du brauchst, um diesen Cache zu finden.
Von hier aus geht es - nachdem der Cache gefunden ist - in östlicher Richtung weiter.
