You really do need to be Welcoming yourself into Wake or you'll miss this one! Chatham County apparently isn't interested in announcing itself on this road so there is no echoing sign on the opposite side.
If you are coming from Wake and get to the gravel - you went too far. If you are coming from Chatham ... I'm sorry. Chatham is a great county, lovely place, nice people, but ... the road turns to rough gravel right after you pass the Pisgah church on the corner and I do not think I have ever seen so many scarecrows in one place at one time in my life. Hanging on fences, posts, under barn eaves, one is even sitting in a chair on a front porch (guarding the four dogs, attack goose, and /peacock/ in the yard, I presume). It was a little creepy, to be honest. So ... try to NOT come at it from Chatham County if you can.
There is access to the American Tobacco Trail on the main road right where this road intersects it.
