MaxB on the River: Removed the cache container last weekend as it is very hard and dangerous to get to the cache. During the heavy rains we had in august, the cache placement is just not suitable. Thanks to all those who did the river tour. The other caches are still in place and good shape.

Geocache Description:


This is one of six (6) caches you can find by enjoying a day on the St Joseph River the entire series will take 3 to 5 hours. We have moved the cache locations of last years St Joseph River Tour.

NOTE: The cache is NOT located at the above coordinates. To obtain the coordinates first find St Joseph 2007 River Tour #1 where you will find the coordinates for this cache. Also posted in St Joseph River Tour #1 are the coordinates for St Joseph River Tour #3 and so make sure you write them both down.

You will need a boat of some sort to complete this cache. (Canoe, kayak, motorboat). Even if you can find parking closer to the cache, we recommend against attempting to swim as the river has a strong current. We also suggest you always use a life vest (PFD) when boating on the river. The property on both sides of the river is private property. This cache is on State waterway but not accessible from land without crossing Private property. ONLY for approach from the river. DO NOT CROSS PROPERTY FROM LAND TO ATTEMPT THIS CACHE.

The rating for this cache is based on the need for a watercraft and it being a multi-cache. If it were in a park it would be rated a 2 / 1.5.

The tour will take you down the scenic St Joseph River. After leaving the St Joseph River Cache #1 it will take under a half hour or so to reach this cache. The next landing down river from this cache is in Buchanan, MI (13 miles by river) so plan accordingly.

Once at the proper landing point the final cache should not be too difficult to locate.

The cache also contains the coordinate for “St Joseph 2007 River Tour #3”, and the coordinates for “St Joseph 2007 River Tour #4 Stage 1” and "Pier #29 Bonus Cache", should you care for an extended adventure.
