Things you will
need:
Strong Flashlight for more than
just the Fire Tacks
Your courage
Notes:
Wompactuck and the DCR have
given permission for this cache. Please, when parking your
car, leave a visible note on the dash that explains that
you're there for the Geocache.
Turn On Track Back or Breadcrumbing on your GPS! There are no
return Fire Tacks!
Remember, when looking for the “eyes”, hold the flashlight next to
your ear as the “eyes” will reflect directly to the source of
light. Headlights will have the greatest effect
here.
There are glow in the
dark/light-up items for trade as well as normal trade items. If you
want a g-i-t-d/light-up item, please swap another g-i-t-d/light-up
item.
This cache will take you on a hike
that is 0.5 to two miles (total-from car to cache to car) from
parking depending on where you park, and as it is at night, one
should be very careful and travel in a group if possible. The
coords will lead you to a trail that is accessible by a road, so
there is no need to walk a trail until the coords. There will be
bushwhacking, but the majority of the hike will be on well-traveled
(during the day) paths. I highly suggest wearing pants, as the
minimal bushwhacking is dense with thorns. Finding it during the
day will be extremely hard. Several measures have been taken to
make this cache challenging, and might make it next to impossible
to find in the day. If you do find it during the day,
congrats!
If you choose to do this
cache, you will be partaking on a Team America P.M. special
assignment. T.A.P.M. has recently had a cryptic message diverted to
us that speaks of a mysterious artifact that is said to be
otherworldly. We need your help find its resting place. It has been
hypothesized that a deep dark forest in Massachusetts has been the
resting place of the artifact for thousands of years, and that a
benevolent Native American Spirit has been the guardian of its
final resting place. We believe that the only time to find the
artifact is at night, when certain clues reveal themselves. We have
intelligence that the artifact is in danger.
The artifact, said to contain great power, vanished long ago and
has recently been spotted in the woods of Wompatuck State Park. The
spirit seems to be guarding the resting place, but another more
devious spirit seems to be interfering. All T.A.P.M. members’
attempts at retrieval are quickly thwarted by said evil spirit.
Therefore, we need another geocacher to help find the artifact.
Stealth will be of utmost importance. Our
coordinates will lead you to a spot where your trail will
begin.
Follow the trail that is lead by the benign spirit’s
two orange eyes as it seems to know
the resting place, and has been helpful to us thus far. The spirit
is timid and won’t reveal itself often, mainly at intersections and
sometimes along the trail, so continue on the trail until you see
it again. You will encounter the evil spirit, but do not follow its
trail, as it is trying to lead you off the correct trail. It can be
spotted by its tell-tale white single
eye. Be sure to find the last set of "eyes" on the
trail(which will be two benign spirits
watching you). Once here, look for a
congregation of spirits, good and
evil. Pandora’s Box is the term we’ve used to
describe a container that is nearby the
congregation of spirits, and we believe it
contains information to aid in the retrieval of the powerful
artifact. This is as far as T.A.P.M. members have been able
to reach, as the evil spirit has blocked our access to the
contents of the box, so you are on your own from here on out.
As this is as far as we’ve come, we believe that
Pandora’s Box may not be the final
resting place of the artifact. Your journey may
very well continue. Please report back with what you have
found, as it will aid in our research and return of the
artifact.
