Geocache Description:

Located at the Junction of Rge Rd 192 & Twp Rd 564 north-east of Lamont.

This is the Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church (Russo-Greek Catholic Orthodox Church of Transfiguration of Star). Construction of this church started in 1913. Logs from the original log church were cut into timbers and used to construct the present church. Mom & I happened upon the new priest and were lucky enough to be able to see inside this lovely church. Since it was the only church we saw the inside of today, this church stood out for us. We also spent quite a bit of time in the cemetary. Here you will find the resting place of the four founding families of the Star colony. What struck our fancy was the mini church, which turned out to be a shrine built by the Pullishy family in 1998 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Star church. We were so delighted with it, we hid the cache next to the shrine.

According to the Lamont County website, the church was declared a historic resource in 1991.
