A Middle Earth Ent in Geneva, NY Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Uncle Ege: Need to archive (cancel/delete) this one. The tree where the Ent resided has been marked for extinction by the City of Geneva for a number of months. Last week they took all the branches and boughs but left the trunk. Yesterday they took the trunk. There is no more Ent. Mama Bear - you lucked out.

Geocache Description:

Ents are a fictional race from J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy world of Middle-earth. The term Ent … refers to a humanoid tree. They appear to have been inspired by the talking trees of many of the world's folklores. As with Hobbit, Ent is a term that in modern times is almost exclusively connected with J. R. R. Tolkien... (Wikipedia)

This hide has two purposes. The first is to show off the interesting natural phenomenon I see from my front porch every day. The second is to create some interaction with other cachers. This micro is directly in front of my home. If you see me on the porch or if the lights are on and the car is in the yard feel free to knock, introduce yourself, and share some adventures for a few minutes.

The cache is a magnetic key holder. Feel free to sit on my stoop to sign the log. It will appear as if you are leaving me a note. (Neighbors know the cache is there.) But definitely look across the street at “my personal Ent”. This is why I placed the cache. Its a cool-looking tree. Bring your own pen/pencil. No trading is possible.
