Legacy Trail #6: Snagged Another Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

scheibwife: The snag took a dive across the trail, and is now in pieces and chunks. This cache has met its demise. Many thanks to the Town of Truckee maintenance guys who recognized the geocache for what it was, passed to to a fellow local cacher who in turn passed it back to us. It will live again! Stay tuned!

Geocache Description:

The beginning of the Legacy Trail is N 39º19.595 , W 120º10.609.

The Truckee River Legacy Trail is a gift to the community, both present and future. The Legacy Trail starts near the entrance to the Truckee River Regional Park and extends eastward along the Truckee River for almost two miles. It can be enjoyed by hikers, bikers, walkers, kids, and dogs-on-leashes (and please remember the poop bag!) The trail starts as a paved curve around the first few tees of the disk golf course down towards the river. From the river barbeque area, the terrain is fairly flat for the remainder of the current trail.

The goal of this cache is to introduce you to a very pleasant hike along the Truckee River. The hope is that you will take time for a quick wade in the river, maybe sneak in a picnic lunch, and perhaps view some of the local wildlife. From near this cache, there is a second smaller dirt trail preferred by the local labradors and their people which runs right along the edge of the river. There are several good wading spots! Your final destination is a plastic storage container about 3x6x10". PLEASE replace the cache and rehide as you found it... muggles pass very near! Have a GREAT visit to the Legacy Trail!
