Rawlins Green Belt View Traditional Cache

     This cache is located in an area where you have a good view of the east portion of Rawlins where several new motels have been built and another is in construction at the time this cache was placed. This area also has a sit-down restaurant as well as a grocery store and several fast food restaurants.

     Many years ago, I very nearly injured myself near here. I bought a brand new motorcycle and immediately came here to test it out since I knew there was a trail that went along Cedar Street. I was zipping along at way too fast a rate when suddenly, there was a washout ahead of me which came upon me way too fast to stop. I rode the bike off a 10 foot deep ravine. I hit the opposite side which knocked the wind out of me. As I lay in the bottom of the washout, grasping for air, several passers-by came to my rescue since they had witnessed my stupidity. They drug me to street level and when I finally was able to breathe again, I realized I had injured nothing but my pride. These good samaritans helped me get the brand new motorcycle which now had bent handlebars, mirrors, footpegs and gastank back to street level as well. So this cache represents my over-zealous nature when I was much younger and much more foolish. I was lucky that day that I didn't end up with a major injury so it makes me feel good to think back to that day even though I felt a little foolish at the time.

     This area in recent years was beautified with new street, new sidewalks and new trees planted to add a welcoming touch as one first enters the town.

     The container is small and is camouflaged so as not to be easily seen by anybody except cachers. It has a little room for small items like pins or micro coins. There is a parking area very close so you do not need to park on the street which is illegal and very impractical. Enjoy!
