Geocache Description:

CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES- parking area to begin your walk. Coordinates found at Geolite Rocks. (GC12VB5- N 45° 01.369 W 123° 04.637)

Geolite Rocks introduces you to this unimproved Greenway park. If you are interested in exploring further- an additional 1/2 mile walk to this cache will bring you to a remote area down by the river. Trail is hardpacked, dense and green. Blackberries are thick in small patches- we do maintenance on the trail regularly, but hand clippers would be useful in the summer.Nice weekend outing away from any crowds- good place to bring the dog to play and throw rocks.

Can be easily reached by shore if you are floating by and have the coords.

Willamette River Trivia:

One of the few rivers in the US that flows in a northerly direction.
The largest river lying wholly within one state.

PRECAUTIONS:
Willamette River has a very swift current, under no circumstances should young children swim at this spot, nor even play by the rivers edge without close supervision and/or a life jacket. There is a patch of poison oak at the end of the trail, we have cleared away some and will continue to do so during our regular maintenance- but be sure to wash after your outing. That said, it still is a beautiful area just outside of Salem.
