Note:
Please do not remove the Red Handed Coin from this cache. I
would like it to remain for all visitors to "discover".
Make sure to take a note of the letters and numbers printed at the
top of the log book - they will be used for a later
cache.
This is an offset multi cache with a 35mm film canister micro
cache at the end. Too small for any swaps, but hopefully small
enough that it goes undisturbed except by those actively seeking
it.
Roath Park information
Roath Park was opened in 1894, and boasts a 30 acre lake formed
by the damming of the Nant Fawr stream. It took seven years to
transform the marshy bog-land, donated to the Cardiff Corporation
by the Marquis of Bute, into 130 acres of parkland.
There are rose and dahlia gardens, a sub-tropical greenhouse,
and a children’s playground. The lake is popular with fishermen and
boaters. A lighthouse has been erected in tribute to Captain Scott,
who set sail on his ill-fated voyage to the Antarctic from
Cardiff.
The four islands in the lake (not accessible to the public) form
a haven for wildlife. Birdlife is abundant, and amongst the various
ducks, geese, swans and gulls, you may be lucky enough to see great
crested grebe, heron, cormorant, kingfisher or dipper on your
visit.

This cache is only suitable for accessing during the daytime, as
the park is only open during daylight hours. The park opens at 0730
and is locked approximately 30 minutes before the nationally
published sunset time for Cardiff. Closing times for the park are
published on the Cardiff County Council Website.
All waypoints and the final cache are located along hard
surfaced paths in the park.
At the time of placing, the cache contains a pencil and pencil
sharpener, but it's probably a good idea to bring your own pen or
pencil just in case.
This cache has been placed with the kind permission of Cardiff
County Council Parks Service.
