Geocache Description:

A simple offset multi starting with a (very) short walk by the Basingtoke Canal.

See (visit link) for more details about this delightful canal.

The cache co-ordinates take you to a point on the canal tow-path. Look across the canal and you'll see a garden bench on a bit of decking.

How many of the back supports on the bench are not straight/plain bits of wood? (A)
How many brass plaques are attached to the front edge of the decking? (B)

The location of the cache is very close to, but not actually on, an army range. Therefore please take care to heed any warning signs and do not handle any suspicious objects.

The cache is a brown ammo box - but obviously not an army one, as it has a large green Geocaching sticker on the side.

Parking is available in the St John's Ambulance car park, and refreshments are available in The Swan pub.

Having located the cache you may wish to continue down the path and extend your walk by going onto and over the ranges. Please first check the red flags aren't flying - the white flagpoles can clearly been seen in both directinos at the end of the path where there is a kissing gate giving access to the ranges (gate not suitable for pushchairs. If you have a pushchair you can enter easily by following the road up past the St. John Ambulance centre).
