This cache has been archived.

MtnGoat50: I guess it's time to archive this one so it stops showing up on local searches.

Thanks to everyone who attended, I had a great time putting it on!

Geocache Description:

Come join us for a morning bike ride along the Centennial Trail to Sullivan Park, followed by a BBQ Picnic Lunch.

If you don't bike, don't worry, you're welcome to attend the BBQ.

The bike ride will start from the WSU Spokane campus, Yellow Lot #1 (N 47 39.781 W117 24.440) at 8:30 AM. We will bike, approximately 14 miles along the Centennial Trail to Sullivan Park, doing geocaches as we go. I've made a bookmark list with all the caches that are easily accessible from the trail. There are also four caches within easy walking distance at Sullivan Park.
You will need to bring your bicycle, a helmet (these are required on the trail), some water, and dress for the weather.

If you will be leaving your car at the starting point there is a $1.50 parking permit required. We will have those available at the start.

The BBQ will start at 12:00 PM. We have reserved the shelter for the afternoon and the Inland Empire Chapter of the WSGA will provide the main course; hamburgers, hot dogs and buns. (we will also have some mustard, ketchup, and cheese)
You bring a pot-luck side dish to share.
Remember, NO alcohol is allowed at Sullivan Park.
If you aren't biking and would like to come early to help setup. Let me know.

Logistics: If you would like to car pool, meet us at Sullivan Park at 7:30. My wife's truck will have some room for more bikes and people, and ReverendVW is bringing a trailer that will hold 10+ bikes. If anyone has a rig that holds lots of people that would be great.
I'm leaving my car with our cooler and BBQ at Sullivan Park. I will have some extra room if anyone wants to leave their picnic supplies in my car.
We're planning on leaving Sullivan Park promptly at 7:45, so we can be at the start a little early.

Weather: It's predicted to be very hot this Saturday. Dress appropriately and bring lots of water. It is supposed to be cloudy in the morning so hopefully, by getting an early start, we'll miss the worst of it.

On your "Will Attend" log please indicate how many people you're bringing and whether you prefer burgers or dogs. This will help us plan the food. Don't worry if you decide to come at the last minute we'll plan on having a little extra.

Construction Update: The road/sewer work on Upriver Drive may still be going on this weekend but I checked with Knife River, the construction company, and they are letting bicyclists through. Be prepared for the possibility of several blocks of dirt or gravel road. I did the route with my wife last Sunday, on mountain bikes, and we had no trouble.

Construction Update: Sullivan road is closed from Indiana to Mission. You will not be able to cross the freeway on Sullivan road. If you are coming from Idaho, you can exit I-90 at Sullivan and go north to Sullivan Park. If you are coming from downtown, take the Evergreen off ramp and go north to Indiana, then east to Sullivan.
