Geocache Description:

Come and enjoy a ramble in this historic frontier town. This cache complements nearby

GC12BHQ, which features a famous person in this town.

Kihikihi has a rich history, as a frontier town of the New Zealand wars, on the fringe of the King Country. You can walk or drive and will travel around 3km. All points are wheelchair accessible.

The listed waypoint takes you to an information board at an historic point on the Kihikihi historic heritage trail.

You will need to look for some key numbers on the information signs, to decode the final waypoint and grab the cache.

Have a read through the sign at the start point and resolve thefollowing entries:

D=the last digit of the year of disbanding

E= the number of towns that the Armed Constabulary were based in.

Next, move to S38 02.190 E175 20.709 and read the sign at this point:

C= the last digit of the population in 1905

F= the last digit of the population in 1878

Then, move to S38 02.328 E175 20.739 and reflect on a great man of Kihikihi history who lies here. Read the monument and decode the following numbers:

A= the first digit of the year Rewi Maniapoto was born (line on plinth of the memorial).

B= the last digit of the year Rewi Maniapoto died (last line in the main text of the memorial).

And… you now have the final waypoint.. go to:

S38 02.ABC

E175 21.DEF

You are looking for a 400ml square sistema box.

The final is well hidden, so a peek at the hints may be worthwhile.
