Geocache Description:

You are looking for a magnetic hide-a-key. Ignore the velcro.

In its day the Talquin Inn was always packed with people from all different walks of life eating some of the most amazing home cooked food.

Here's what I remember (don't forget these are memories of a 53 year-old & your memories may be different):
  • The yummiest bacon wrapped shrimp
  • Garlic Bread - the best you ever tasted
  • Mouth watering steaks
  • The sound of the screen door slamming
  • The sound of Mrs. Jo Taylor's bicycle bell letting the waitresses know that an order was ready
  • Coca-Colas in a bottle
  • Playing with the Taylor kids on the huge oak tree in the back of the restaurant
  • Mr. Harry Taylor always pulling up his pants while working the cash (no pun intended) register
  • My daddy hollering out the name of his favorite waitress - TIIINNNNAAAAAAA

As a child we ate there almost every Friday night. The Taylors ran this little restaurant for over 35 years. The last time I ate there was in the early 80's. My heart sank the day I drove by realizing the building was gone.

I not only have my childhood memories left, I have an old postcard of the restaurant - probably from the late 40's or early 50's (?) and an original piece of artwork by the late Bill Rollo.

I really wanted to place this cache at the base of the old oak tree. But with no place for you to park and an extremely busy & dangerous intersection, I decided it was best to place the cache across the street. As you hunt for the cache see if you can catch a whiff of garlic. Or if you listen real hard you might hear my daddy holler TIIIINNNNAAAAAA!!!!

Thank you for allowing me to share my memories and a small piece of Tallahassee history. If you were fortunate to have eaten at the Talquin Inn I urge you to share some of your memories.
