The Cry of the Hawk Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: Hi,

This cache is on the property owned by Hafer Petroleum Equipment and there without permission. The president is not against caching, he just wants it at a safer spot. Please contact me for his contact information if you don't already have it. When things have been worked out, please drop me an e-mail and we can either unarchive this or if it has to be moved, a new cache can be created.

Thanks,
-O

Geocache Description:

Some portions of this trail is very steep. I wouldn't recommend small children, as parts of the trail are full rock beds, lots of loose footing. The trails are wide and obvious, but they are not marked (as in the yellow trail or blue trail), and branch off in different directions at certain points. Remember you do want to make it to the top. Yes, the tippy top.

Once you are near the cache site, you will have an amazing view of the valley far below. Stop, rest, and take in the sites, you won't be sorry. Not to mention you will probably need a breather after the uphill hike. The hike took us about 15 minutes to climb, with a quick stop once or twice. The climb, looking for the cache, and the rest/sightseeing, should take less than an hour, depending on the time spent looking, ooohhing and ahhhing. On the way down from placing the cache, we were still debating the name of the cache, when one of my favorite sounds in the world called out: the cry of the hawk. After several of these powerful cries the name just stuck. I have lived just down the road, or in the vacinity, for my entire life and have never gone to this spot until just prior to placing the cache. We hope that you will enjoy this cache spot as much as we do. The cache is an ammo box filled with brand new in package swag, and two TBs for the FTF to claim if he/she so choses. In your logs, please take the time to tell us about your adventure, not simply "we found it". The parking for the cache has room for several cars and is right off of Bingaman, where it runs into Butter Lane. UPDATE: After reading the first couple of great logs that came in, I realized I should add parking coords. Parking coordinates are at 40 20.167/075 52.312.
