We invite cachers to visit 20 NEFF-owned Community Forests throughout New England!
The theme is water in the woods. Forests are natural filters that provide clean water for plants, animals and people. Participating geocachers will discover rivers, lakes, creeks, swimming holes, and springs to learn about how forests provide clean water.
New England Forestry Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to conserving forest lands throughout the region. We are happy to welcome Geocachers to enjoy our forests!

Starting in Readfield at the intersection of Rt 17 and Rt 41, travel west on Rt 17 for approximately .5 miles to the Sturdevant Hill Road. Turn left onto the Sturdevant Hill Road and follow it south approximately 2.2 miles to the Dan Luce Road. Turn right on the Dan Luce and follow it SW approximately .3 miles to the Luce Forest.
Once you're there:
A bit down the road from the parking area, there is a trail that heads out to the cache.
This young, mixed forest is growing on old farmland. The trail in follows an old logging road. Near the hiding spot, you'll see where red maples and other hardwood species have been cut, and the stumps are re-sprouting multiple stems.
The water feature here is a shallow marsh beaver meadow. Notice red winged blackbirds and other feathered marsh dwellers.
