Lighthouse Keeper's Home
Ex-Inspector Cezard was
suddenly startled by a knock at the door. For twelve years, he
has manned this remote outpost without a single visitor or
phone call, save the occasional seagull. Cezard was equally
surprised when he opened the door and came face to face with
his old Commander, Mark Duboit. Cezard ushered Duboit in,
inviting him for some afternoon tea. Over tea, Cezard learned
that his old art theft team had been disbanded six years ago
due to budgetary cuts and managerial changes. As they spoke
Duboit began looking around the humble dwellings that made up
the remote lighthouse post. Duboit asked, “Do you ever think
about the Sidney Spider and what your life would be like now
if you had apprehended her?” “Everyday.” responded Cezard.
Duboit reached inside the jacket pocket of his suit and
produced a set of Inspector credentials, sliding them across
the table in front of Cezard. “Here is your second chance,”
said Duboit. Seeing that his friend was still baffled, Duboit
went on to explain that the Sidney Spider was never caught and
that recently she had entered into other business ventures;
selling herself to the highest bidder. Duboit then brought to
light the three related cases that have occurred recently. Of
particular note was that there was a direct link between all
three cases: Inspector Cezard. “That is why I have had you
reinstated. You have the only in depth knowledge of the Sidney
Spider and she is calling you out personally to try and catch
her, “ said Duboit.
Duboit left the lighthouse leaving Inspector Cezard with a large
manila envelope containing the evidence from all three cases and a
hard decision as whether to become an Inspector again. As soon as
Duboit shut the door, Cezard snatched up his old credentials and
ripped open the envelope to begin pouring over all of the evidence.
The chase was on.

Office of Dr. Amanda Pierce
It was early in the
morning and Amanda Pierce finds herself lying flat on her back
on the ground next to her car; awakened by the kiss of newly
falling snow on her face. She sits up trying to regain her
balance but she still feels a little fuzzy in the head and
does not attempt to get up right away. How she found herself
lying on the ground next to her car was just a blur. All that
she could remember was that she was working late the night
before, putting the final touches on her book to be published
regarding the culture of the Haida Indians. She had been
recently nominated to the Nobel Prize Committee for her
humanitarian efforts working with the Haida Indian population
on the Queen Charlotte Islands. It was late and she was hungry
so she stuffed her work into her brief case and began walking
to her car to go home. The snow crunched under her feet as she
made her way through the empty parking lot to her car. Hitting
the unlock button on her remote key chain, the lights on the
car flash as she unlocks the door. As she reaches for the door
handle she feels a slight pain in her neck and everything
suddenly goes black.
Unnerved from the whole experience, she called a girlfriend and
goes over to her apartment. After recounting the events from last
night to her friend, they looked through her purse to see what
might have been taken. Nothing appeared to be missing. However,
when they looked in her brief case, all of her unpublished work is
missing. As to Amanda’s own well being, she feels that she is
alright save for the nagging pain on her back. Amanda goes into the
bathroom to access the bruising . To her surprise, there is no
bruising; however, someone has tattooed the story of the
Raven on her lower back.
Confused and wanting to know answers to the chain of bizarre events
that have unfolded, she calls the local authorities. The toxicology
report comes back stating that she had been drugged and further
examination of her brief case results in the finding of a playing
card with a
spider and the message, “
Remember me dear old friend? - Inspector Cezard” printed on it.

Waters off the coast of Santorini Island
Aboard Neptune’s Daughter
Lab Station of Dr. Samantha Winters
A full moon shines down
on Neptune’s Daughter as she rolls gently in the warm
Mediterranean waters. Marine Biologist/Chemist Samantha
Winters is busily hunched over her microscope in the lab;
looking at the latest specimens that she has collected today
from the famed Atlantis ruins, found ninety feet below her
research vessel. Her research into marine life in these waters
has paid off handsomely. Her research has resulted in a
possible cure for many types of cancers. So remarkable are the
results of her work that she has been nominated for a Nobel
Peace Prize. Still engrossed in her work, Samantha does not
hear the footsteps of the shadowy figure behind her. Spotting
a shadow on the wall she turns briefly to greet whoever has
come down below into her cabin. She is met by a brief flash of
metal in the light as the gaff finds its mark on the top of
her head. Found by crew members the next day, Samantha
remembers nothing from the night before. Taken back to shore
and examined at a local Greek hospital, the injury to her head
is bandaged and she learns that the
tattoos on her forearm and back
have been altered. Examination of her boat results in the discovery
that her research work having been stolen and a playing card left
on her microscope. The playing card reads “ A new game of cat and
mouse is what I intend.”

Katherine McDonnell
The third case is very
similar to the other two. The victim was a Katherine
McDonnell, Botanist, who had recently made a breakthrough in
plant development, tripling the output capacity of plants. Her
work has not only earned her the praise of her colleagues but
also has caught the eye of the Nobel Peace Committee. As in
the other cases, her unpublished research was stolen. She also
suffered the indignation of her back tattoo,
the Celtic Tree of Life being
defaced. The third and final playing card read, “Maybe this time
you can make it to the end.”
Resolute in his apprehension of the Sidney Spider, Inspector
Cezard begins analyzing the photos of the various tattoos that each
of women owned. It is your job as Inspector Cezard to decipher the
clues within the tattoos and and plug them into the appropriate
letter designation below in order to apprehend the Sidney
Spider.
